Dr. Lauren Fletcher-Walker, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Helping Pets Thrive. Supporting the Families Who Love Them.

Dr. Lauren Walker has been caring for pets and their families for nearly two decades and has been a beloved part of Arlington Heights Animal Hospital since 2016. She is known for her warm personality, approachable nature, and ability to put both pets and their people at ease. Although she’s been practicing for nearly 20 years, she still loves when clients tell her she looks far too young to have that much experience.  And if the topic of age comes up, she’ll be quick to point out that she’s much, much, much younger than our practice owner, Dr. Jimmy. 😜😜😜

Growing up in Mansfield, Texas, Dr. Lauren discovered her passion for veterinary medicine at an early age. As a teenager, she began working at a local veterinary hospital, where exceptional mentors inspired her love for the profession and taught her the importance of caring not only for pets, but also for the families who love them. She worked her way from kennel assistant to veterinary technician before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University in 2008.

After veterinary school, she continued practicing alongside those same mentors before joining Arlington Heights Animal Hospital in July 2016. Over the years, she has become a trusted veterinarian for generations of local families, building lasting relationships while caring for everything from energetic puppies and kittens to senior pets with complex medical needs. She enjoys every aspect of small animal general practice—including surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and dermatology—but what she loves most is partnering with families to help their cherished dogs and cats live healthier, happier lives.

“Being a veterinarian is so much fun. Every day is different, and you never, ever have to worry about getting your step count in.” — Dr. Lauren Walker

She loves running marathons with friends—especially when they involve traveling somewhere new—along with skiing, hiking, attending Texas A&M sporting events, and enjoying live music whenever she gets the chance (bonus points if it’s at Red Rocks Amphitheatre).

She and her incredibly patient husband, Tennessee, have three children: Renner, Cooper, and Collins. Clients may even spot Collins around the hospital helping check on patients and making sure the cats are getting plenty of attention.

Their family currently includes two very happy Golden Retrievers, Ted (yes, named after Ted Lasso) and Tess. She’s also quietly campaigning to add a cat to the family… despite what her husband might have to say about it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you become a veterinarian?

I love all things gross, science, puzzles, and animals, of course. I was fortunate to work with two incredible veterinarians as a teenager who inspired me to pursue this profession and showed me what it truly means to care for both pets and the people who love them. And honestly… being a veterinarian is just fun. Every day is different, and you never have to worry about getting your step count in.

What advice do you give new pet owners?

Do your research! There are a lot of great resources available, and talking with experienced pet owners can be incredibly helpful. Choose a pet that truly fits your lifestyle—and if you’re ever unsure, ask questions. (Or ask your mother. Mothers are usually right.)

What do you want every pet owner to know?

We’re here to help. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions or tell us what’s going on. Whether it’s making a cat’s visit less stressful or finding the right treatment plan, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Oh… and please don’t feed your dog a grain-free diet.

What is your favorite part of working at Arlington Heights Animal Hospital?

“The people. We have the best staff and clients. Everyone genuinely enjoys working together, supports one another, and shares the same goal of providing outstanding patient care. Dr. Jimmy, Sarah, and Brandi have worked hard to build a workplace that feels like family—and we laugh a lot.”
